By Joe Opperman, Executive Director Iola Car Show
I would like to issue a very sincere “thank you” to all those who participated directly or enjoyed the Rally for Iola indirectly along the Rally Route. In a year that is very challenging for all of us, it was very heartwarming to see so much fun, positivity and gratitude expressed by so many people.
The attendees of the event were very appreciative of the opportunity to get out and safely participate in something they’re passionate about. They came back from the cruise and were AMAZED by how many people were observing, waving and cheering all throughout the route. I’m certain the event created lasting memories for everyone involved.
We were contacted after the Rally about some children who wanted some of the Rally for Iola yard signs, because they were excited to play ‘Rally’ after watching the incredible show of beautiful cars cruise past their house for hours. I can say confidently, on the behalf of the owners of those cars driving by, that in itself makes Saturday’s Rally a great success!
While the Rally for Iola is no silver bullet to the financial struggles our organization faces in 2020, I’m absolutely thrilled about the positive seeds we’ve planted and goodwill that was created throughout the county in our efforts. We will soon begin planning for an October Benefit auction. If anyone in the area is willing to provide gift baskets, raffle prizes or auction items: please reach out to our office at 715-445-4000 as soon as possible.
I want to express pride and appreciation for all the members of the car show team, the incredible group of volunteers and the Waupaca County Sheriff Department. I’d like to further acknowledge the volunteers who are a regular part of making the flagship Iola Car Show and Swap Meet event a success. Although, they weren’t called upon to assist with this smaller event, they are still very much appreciated for their traditional contributions.
