The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public involvement meeting to discuss proposed improvements to WIS 49, between Depot Street (Scandinavia) to South Junction WIS 161 (Iola).
The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Scandinavia Municipal Center, 349 North Main Street, Scandinavia. After a formal presentation at 5:30 p.m., the meeting will follow an open house format.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss identified needs,
obtain input on proposed improvements and gather information that could help
minimize traffic impacts. Proposed improvements include:
• Removing the top layer of asphalt and placing a new top layer of asphalt.
• Updating pedestrian curb ramps to current Americans with Disabilities Act
(ADA) standards in Scandinavia and Iola.
• Removing and replacing guard rail in Scandinavia near Depot Street.
Construction is currently scheduled for the 2022 construction season.
