The Personnel and Finance Committee meeting of the Village of Iola was held Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 5 p.m. at the Iola Community Center, with social distancing practiced.
Chairman Jim Rasmussen called the meeting of the Iola Village Personnel and Finance to order.
Board members present: Chairman Jim Rasmussen; Trustees: Pamela Parks, Kathy Briquelet,
Terry Murphy, Dave Harper. Others present: Clerk Betty Aanstad, Paul Zierler, Curt Fields. Absent: President Joel Edler, Trustee: Missy Fenn.
Chairman Rasmussen entertained a motion to go into Closed Session. Motion made by Dave
Harper to go into Closed Session, seconded by Pamela Parks. Motion Carried. Committee adjourned to Board Room for Closed Session.
Committee returned from closed session. A motion was made by Dave Harper to go back into Open Session, motion seconded by Kathy Briquelet. Motion Carried.
Chairman Rasmussen excepted a motion made by Dave Harper to appoint Paul Zierler as Acting Chief of Police for the Village of Iola, effective upon the retirement of Police Chief Bob Prahl. Seconded by Pamela Parks.
There was an understanding if the motion was accepted Acting Chief Paul Zierler would have a performance review on May 3, 2021. With the promotion comes a $2,000 increase in pay effective Nov. 1, 2020. This would be followed by a two percent increase in pay effective Jan. 1, 2021. Depending on the outcome of his performance review there would be a $2,000 increase in pay, starting May 3, 2021. Motion carried.
Dave Harper made a motion to promote Curt Fields to Sergeant. Kathy Briquelet seconded the motion. Motion carried. With his promotion he will receive a $2,000 increase in pay effective Nov. 1, 2020. There will be a four percent increase to his wages as of Jan. 1, 2021.
It was discussed to table the Finance portion of the meeting until Monday, Oct. 26, at 5:30 p.m.
Chairman Rasmussen entertained a motion to adjourn the meeting. Dave Harper made the motion, seconded by Terry Murphy. Motion carried.
