Patrick S. Miller obituary

Patrick S. Miller

May 4, 1950 – November 28, 2023

Patrick Sidney Miller, a beloved father, grandfather, and owner of a successful painting and chimney sweep business, passed away peacefully on Tuesday Nov. 28, 2023, at the age of 73.

He was born on May 4th, 1950, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, son to the late Sidney and Lillian (Roeser) Miller.

Pat dedicated his life to his craft, starting his own painting and chimney sweep business and becoming a respected and skilled owner in the industry. His work brought vibrancy and beauty to countless homes throughout the community. Pat’s attention to detail and genuine, honest, and committed approach to his business earned him the admiration and loyalty of his clients.

He also spent many years working for Wood Renovators where he enjoyed intricate woodworking and refurbishing church pews. He especially enjoyed the company of his friends and coworkers there.

Pat lived his life just the way he wanted to. He took joy in and understood the importance of simple things. He appreciated the beauty of nature and had a love for all animals, especially his “good boy” Lucky.

Pat loved being with his family and friends, whether it be a holiday cookout or a Sunday supper, sharing his wisdom or a great story around the table. He also enjoyed his daily breakfasts at Too-Dars, where he would share a joke or friendly conversation to anyone that would lend an ear. Pat never turned down a good road trip to the casino. Win or lose, a good time was always had by all.

Pat is survived by his daughter Molly (Kody) Shanklin and his son Kris (Irlanda) Miller; grandson Jaxon; sister-in-law Vicki Miller; nieces Tonia and Shawna; special friend Mary Roe; along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Mike Miller.

In celebration of Pat’s life, a gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday Dec. 8, at Voie funeral home in Iola from 4-6 p.m. This gathering will provide an opportunity for loved ones to share memories, support one another, and find solace in their collective grieving.

Pat will be sadly missed, but remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Even as we mourn his loss, let us remember to celebrate his life and the profound impact he had on those around him. May his memory bring comfort and inspiration.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Heartland Hospice for all of their support and the special care they provided to Pat, and a very special thank you to Dawn, for everything.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the family will be appreciated.
