The Iola-Scandinavia School District is excited to welcome a new addition to its teaching staff, Emma Pagel, who will be taking on the role of a 1st Grade teacher at Iola-Scandinavia Elementary School (ISES).
Pagel’s journey leading up to her new position has been marked by a variety of experiences and a passion for education. Born in Scandinavia, Pagel’s early years were spent in the area. At the age of 3, she, along with her parents, made the move to Waupaca, which has remained her family’s home base.
Throughout her educational journey, Pagel has maintained a strong connection to the Waupaca School District. She attended school there from her early grade school years until her college days. She pursued higher education at the University of UW-Stevens Point, where she honed her skills and knowledge for her future career in education.
“I became an educator to play a much larger role in a child’s life than just being their teacher,” Pagel explained when asked about her career choice. “I want to use my job as an educator to become a role model for my students and colleagues to look up to in their everyday lives. It is my goal to be the best I can possibly be for my students and colleagues, inside and outside of the school setting. As an educator, I want to build connections with my students as well as my colleagues that will not only last for the school year but also for proceeding years. Doing this, I hope that as a leader they will be able to look up to me and give their best in everything they do in return.”
Outside of the classroom, Pagel’s interests and hobbies reflect her love for the outdoors and spending quality time with loved ones. Boating and outdoor activities are a staple of her summers, and she cherishes moments with her family and friends during her free time.
When it comes to travel, Pagel’s favorite destination is Saint Petersburg, Florida, a place that holds a special significance for her and her family. She has enjoyed numerous family gatherings and created cherished memories in this picturesque location.
Sports also play a significant role in Pagel’s life, and she proudly identifies as a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. With her family holding season tickets to Packers’ home games, she has been immersed in the exhilarating atmosphere of football games from a young age. Her enthusiasm for Wisconsin sports extends beyond football, as she avidly supports other teams from the state as well.
The decision to join the Iola-Scandinavia School District was influenced by Pagel’s appreciation for the close-knit community and the strong bonds between the school and its surrounding neighborhoods. She felt drawn to the district’s small-town feel, reminiscent of her upbringing, and recognized the collaborative spirit that permeates the environment.
As Emma Pagel steps into her role as a 1st Grade teacher at ISES, her commitment to fostering meaningful connections with her students and colleagues is sure to make a positive impact within the Iola-Scandinavia community.
