Norman Robert Larson obituary

Norman Robert Larson

May 26, 1925 – October 27, 2025

Norman Robert Larson passed away on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025.

He was born May 26, 1925, to Clarence and Ruth (Hoy) Larson in rural Waupaca, Wisconsin. He attended Townsend and Oakland Grade Schools and graduated from Scandinavia High School in 1943.He farmed with his dad and brother on the Larson homestead in the Town of Farmington until 1960, when he began working for Michigan-Wisconsin PipeLine Company, which later became known as ANR Pipeline.

He married Elva Jane Brecke on April 15, 1961, at Zion Lutheran Church in Stetsonville, Wisconsin. Their wedding night was always remembered as the night of the big snowstorm.

Norman and Elva lived in Shawano, Wisconsin, the first 10 years of their marriage. They adopted their son Loren in 1966 and their daughter Linda in 1969. In 1971 they moved to Plover, Wisconsin due to Norman being transferred to the Stevens Point pipeline facility. He worked for the Pipeline company for 36 years.

In 1987, Norman and Elva purchased the Larson Homestead, which was Norman’s home away from home. In 2002 they moved to Waupaca to be closer to the Larson Homestead, which kept him busy during his retirement years by maintaining and planting many pine trees on their pine plantations. They went out to the “Farm” almost daily to mow the lawn and tinker around. He loved his John Deere tractors and owned many of them throughout the years.

Norman’s hobbies included farming, tractors, land conservation, and talking to people. He made friends wherever he went and loved joking with people. One of his biggest regrets in life was selling his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Due to Elva’s health issues, they moved into assisted living in 2018 where he had many people to converse with and was able to attend activities.

He is survived by his son, Loren (Jill) Larson of Omro, his daughter, Linda Proos (Terry) of New London, his granddaughter, Kiana (Codie) Duciaume of Waupaca, sister-in-law, Sharon (the late Myron) Brecke, and sister-in-law, Nancy (the late David) Larson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Elva; brothers, Arne (Madelyn) Larson and Clifford (Maretta) Larson; sister, Irene (David) LaStofka; brothers-in-law, Vernon (Betty) Brecke and Myron Brecke; and sisters-in-law, Audrey (Willard) Vircks, Gladys (Emil) Paur, Annabelle (Harold) Holme, Stella Brecke, and Myrtle (Howard) Bedroske.
The Funeral Service will be held at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waupaca at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, with Rev. Ron Siemers officiating. Interment will be at Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery, Town Scandinavia. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
