News briefs around Iola-Scandinavia

  • Shannon Dane has joined the Iola Village Library’s staff as the new children’s librarian. She and her husband Dan are recent transplants to Iola in 2016. The couple relocated from Colorado. They have a son Xander. Formerly she was a library associate in the Portage County libraries.
  • Parker Prahl has been selected to represent the Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds in the WBCA All-Star game in Wisconsin Dells on June 30. He will be raising money to help fight childhood cancer. He has committed to raise a minimum of $500. If you’d like to donate and for further info call 715-445-1189.
  • The Iola Lions will meet on Monday, April 4, at the Thirsty Perch in Iola. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. and the meal follows at 6 p.m.
  • The Easter Party, sponsored by the Iola Lions Club and Leos, will be held on Saturday, April 16, from 1-20 p.m. at Iola-Scandinavia Elementary School Gym. For all children through 3rd grade. Games, prizes, egg hunt, and more!
  • Lila Malvik-Show is a write-in candidate for the District 8 County Supervisor seat.
  • The Village of Iola pickleball court will be at Ingval-Olson Park where the volleyball area is.
  • A new dog park for the Village of Iola will be at West Iola Street and Townline Road.
