On Monday the Chamber conducted its annual New Teacher Tour of the Iola-Scandinavia area. A small group on this year’s tour — only two new teachers, which shows stability for the school district.

The 1 1/2-hour tour through Scandinavia, Iola, and up to the Iola Winter Sports Club, ended appropriately at the Iola Historical Society’s replica one-room schoolhouse.

IHS president Clifford Mishler talked about the historical society’s buildings and showed the inside of the schoolhouse, which has more than 50 vintage black-and-white pictures of Waupaca County’s one-room schoolhouses. The IHS schoolhouse is a replica of the schoolhouse now being occupied by Westley Heating on Highway 49 south of Scandinavia.
