In a recent development, the Iola-Scandinavia School District welcomes its newest addition to the team, Jim Komp. With a strong commitment to fostering educational growth and a passion for community involvement, Komp is set to make a significant impact on the district as a 5th grade teacher.

Originally hailing from Peshtigo, Wisconsin, Komp has deep roots in the state. Currently residing in Waupaca, Wisconsin, he has chosen to bring his expertise and dedication to the Iola-Scandinavia School District. His educational journey includes attending high school in Peshtigo and pursuing higher education at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

A devoted family man, Komp’s household includes his wife, Sarah, a dedicated NICU Nurse, and their three children. Their daughter, Madeline, is a sophomore in high school, while their sons, Carson and Connor, are in 8th and 5th grade, respectively. The family is completed by their friendly Goldendoodle, Millie, who is known for her affectionate nature and love for making new friends.

When asked about his inspiration for a career in education, Jim Komp shares, “I love working with kids and helping them grow and achieve their potential.” This passion is further reflected in his active involvement in coaching his sons’ travel basketball teams and engaging in various community initiatives.

Outside of the classroom, Mr. Komp is an avid sports enthusiast, with basketball holding a special place in his heart. He not only enjoys coaching but also takes pleasure in cheering for Wisconsin teams, including the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Milwaukee Bucks. Moreover, his interests extend to cultural experiences, as he enjoys watching musicals with his daughter and engaging in reading.

Reflecting on his favorite travel experiences, Mr. Komp fondly recalls a trip to Colorado, where he explored the majestic Rocky Mountain National Park, indulged in relaxation at Mt. Princeton hot springs resort, and reached the peak of Pike’s Peak. Additionally, he and his wife have embarked on trips to Las Vegas, adding to their collection of cherished memories.

Komp actively volunteers as the President of the Waupaca Youth Basketball Club and contributes his time during the summer as a baseball coach. His dedication to nurturing young minds is further exemplified by his decision to join the Iola-Scandinavia School District, drawn by its reputation for fostering positivity and providing strong leadership.

Komp’s arrival in the Iola-Scandinavia School District signifies a powerful commitment to shaping the educational landscape and ensuring that every student reaches their full potential. With his diverse interests, community engagement, and fervent dedication, Jim Komp is set to inspire and empower both students and colleagues alike.
