ARTEMIS II MISSION CONNECTION: The Crystal Café posted that their youngest daughter, Olivia, had the amazing honor of serving aboard the USS John P. Murtha while on a temporary duty assignment for this special Artemis II mission. “We are so proud of Olivia and of all the brave men and women serving in our Armed Forces every day.” The I-S Community is also proud of Olivia and thankful for her service!

MELT AND FLOAT: No, it’s not a summer combo meal! The Iola-Scandinavia Fitness and Aquatic Center is offering an opportunity for a “rejuvenating escape to revitalize your fascia and calm your mind. NEW PRIEST: Fr. Douglas LaCaptain has been appointed pastor of St. Mary Magdalene Parish, Waupaca, effective July 1. He comes from St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Manitowoc.

DOUGHNUTS: The fried dough treats were originally called “oily cakes” from the Dutch olykoeks. But back in the 7th century, they didn’t have a round hole in the middle. That came in in the 19th century because of Hanson Crockett Gregory’s indigestion, which caused him to cut out the doughier middle.

PUPPY EYES: Dogs have developed eye muscles that enable them to make the innocent expression they have become known for. This muscle is absent in wolves. The muscles make the eyes appear larger, thereby making them appear more infant-like, which nurtures a human response.
