STURGEON HARVEST: According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, a total of 1,539 lake sturgeon were speared statewide during the 2026 season.
ANTISEMITISM LAW: Gov. Tony Evers signed legislation March 27 defining antisemitism under Wisconsin law. “Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.” Read the Wisconsin Examiner story here.
EVERS VETOES REFERENDUM LIMIT: Gov. Tony Evers vetoed a handful of Republican education bills Friday, March 27, including one that would have put limits on school districts’ ability to seek property tax increases at the ballot box by requiring that the districts submit financial documents on time before going to referendum.
