- STORYWALK IS BACK: Scandinavia Public Library’s StoryWalk is back at Jorgens Park Preserve. The book is Jeanette Winter’s “Wangari’s Trees of Peace.” Read the true story of Wangari Maathai, an environmentalist and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, who spearheaded a campaign that has re-planted millions of trees in Africa and has inspired people around the world!
- LIBERTARIAN PARTY: Stephen Ecker of Iola is the new chair of the executive committee of the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin. LPWI convention also passed several important resolutions. One resolution denounced attempts by any governmental body to stop, control, censor or punish public access to the freedom of information, to information platforms, or the natural right to free speech, if such information and speech does not harm anyone or steal from them.
- SALT HAIR AND BEAUTY LOUNGE: This new beauty salon will open its doors in downtown Scandinavia on Thursday, June 1. According to the owner’s Facebook page, “My name is Brittany Stroik, owner and creator of Salt Hair and Beauty Lounge in the quaint village of Scandinavia, Wisconsin. My home resides in Scandi’s neighboring town Manawa, where I was born and raised. I also spent a lot of time growing up in Scandinavia as well! My grandparents live right on Main Street, this is the hometown my mama grew up in. I spent some of my best summer days walking down to the local ice cream shop with my grandparents and playing at the park!” The services being offered include haircuts, colors, highlights, hair extensions, manicures, waxing, lash lift and tints, and brow laminations and tints.
