Mary Lee Larson

November 3, 1942 – April 29, 2023

Mary Lee Larson, 80, of Scandinavia, Wisconsin, went to her heavenly home on April 29, 2023.

She was born on Nov. 3, 1942, in Iola, Wisconsin, to DeLyle and Mary Irene (Stanley) Omholt.

Mary married Gary Larson on June 8, 1963, in Manawa.

Mary was a Registered Nurse but worked in oncology for a larger part of her career in Omaha, Nebraska, at Bergen Mercy hospital.

After she and her husband  moved back to the Iola-Scandinavia area, Mary continued her work with Oncology in both Marshfield, Wisconsin, and Stevens Point, Wisconsin, before retiring.

Mary loved to travel with her husband, Gary. They took trips and cruises to European destinations. They enjoyed bowling together and golf.  

Mary was also a volunteer at her church in Waupaca, Wisconsin. She worked as a nurse for the parish. Mary loved to help others.

Mary also loved animals, having many dogs over the years and cats, which she loved to spoil.

She is survived by loving husband Gary of 59 years; children Anne (Michael) Hughes, Scott (Keri) Larson, Michael Larson; grandchildren Elizabeth, Melissa, Haley and Margaret; along with sister Linda (Donald) Holtebeck.

She was preceded in death by father DeLyle Omholt; mother Mary Irene Omholt; sister Jill Steinmetz.

The Memorial Mass for Mary will be held on Wednesday May 3, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca with Fr. Xavier Santiago presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10-11:30 AM. Interment of cremains will be in the Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Breast Cancer research.
