Marcella Jean (Thulien) Anderson
April 14, 1930 – September 22, 2022
Marcella Jean (Thulien) Anderson passed away on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022, at Theda Care Waupaca hospital with family at her bedside. She has been blessed to enjoy a life of 92 years and will be dearly missed.
She was born on April 14, 1930, in Iola, Wisconsin, to the late Alfred Thulien and Minnie (Christenson) Thulien. She graduated from Iola High School in 1948.
She married LaVerne Anderson on Dec. 28, 1950, at Scandinavia, Wisconsin, Parsonage. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2014, after 63 years of marriage.
She did house cleaning and worked at Whispering Pines and for Gemini Company.
She loved polka music, dances, listening to LaVerne play the accordion, and enjoyed doing search a words, baking and was a great listener.
Survivors include her six children, Larry of Plover, Wisconsin, Jim of Waupaca, Wisconsin, Ernie of Iola, WI, Lynn (Lee Allen) Wilhelm of Iola, WI, Debbie of Iola, and Lisa of Iola; nine grandchildren, Heather Anderson Plover, Matt Anderson of Plover, Amy (Russ) Crabb of New London, Wisconsin, Luke Anderson of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Zach (Natasha) Anderson of Waupaca, Adam (Mary) Anderson of Waupaca, Donna (Jose) Martinez of Crystal City, Texas, Carrie (Lucas) Epstein of Weyauwega, Wisconsin, Michael Wilhelm of Iola; and 16 great-grandchildren, Rebecca Martinez, Nicole Martinez, Jose Martinez Jr., Emma Epstein, Lucas Epstein, Flynn Crabb, Jimmy Crabb, Barrett Anderson, Noah Anderson, Nathaniel Anderson, Nicholas Anderson, Levi Anderson, Jessica Anderson, Riley Anderson, Emily Anderson, Kaleb Anderson, Coty Anderson, Brennan Anderson; one brother-in-law Allen Anderson; nephew Donnie Thulien and niece Elaine Pethke; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by both parents; her siblings, Sadie (Nick) Penleski, Agnes (Elmer) Bestul, Elmer (Aggie) Thulien, Carol (Jonas) Bestul, Kermit Thulien, Arlie Thulien; two infant sisters; sister-in-law Viola Anderson; and brother-in-law Russell Anderson.
We are deeply saddened by losing our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Visitation will be held at the Voie Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 26, from 4-7 p.m. and at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola on Tuesday, Sept. 27, from noon-1 p.m. Funeral services will be held Sept. 27, at 1 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola, and will continue at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
