The Village of Iola Board of Trustees will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 14, at 5:30 p.m. in the Iola Village Hall Community Room.

Under New Business, the board will address key issues affecting the village, including zoning changes, regulatory updates, and employee requests. Key topics included acceptance of the 2023 Compliance Maintenance Annual Report (CMAR) for the Village of Iola Treatment Plant and Sanitary System, as well as updates to various ordinances regarding smoking, ATV/UTV usage, and alcohol regulations.
The Village Board will:
Vote to approve Resolution 2024-02, accepting the 2023 Compliance Maintenance Annual Report for the Village of Iola Treatment Plant and Sanitary System (CMAR). This acceptance ensures that the village remains in compliance with state regulations and continues its commitment to managing its sanitary system effectively.
Vote to A granting a variance for Parcel 26 35 73 34, located at 420 W. Iola St., for the construction of a 30×60-foot accessory building with 12-foot walls. This decision allows the property owner to proceed with the proposed building plan.
Vote topass zoning changes for two parcels. Parcel number 26 35 71577 and Parcel number 26 35 71578 were both rezoned from Conservancy to R-1 (Residential). An allocation of $840 was approved to cover the costs associated with rezoning these parcels.
The Board will vote to approve updates to various ordinances:
Resolution 2024-3: This resolution updates Chapter 223 Smoking to include vaping, ensuring the village’s regulations keep pace with changing smoking trends.
Resolution 2024-5: An update to Ordinance No. 2019-1, regarding ATV/UTV usage, to include Wisconsin State Statute §23.33 and Wisconsin Administrative Code Chapter NR 64.
Resolution 2024-6: An update of Ordinance No. 2019-1, banning the use of intoxicating beverages and modifications to exhaust systems/mufflers while operating ATV/UTVs.
Resolution 2024-7: An update to Chapter 77 Alcohol Beverage, regulating drinking in parks and public areas.
The board needs to approve the purchase of a new snowplow, adoption of the Village of Iola Family Medical Leave Act Employee Request Form, and streamline the process for employees to request leave under the Family Medical Leave Act.

Committee Reports
Committee chairs will present monthly reports. Among them:
The Library Committee will present April 2024 Circulation & Programming Statistics.
The Protection of Persons and Property Committee will present the April 2024 Police Report and will inform the Board that the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department is updating Spillman, for a cost of $1,466.
The Public Works (Public Property, Streets, Sewer, Water) Committee will present the following items: (1) Reviewed delinquent utility accounts; (2) Fahrner will be seal coating with a slag material; (3) Rental agreement from the Town of Iola has been signed, new rate effective May 1, 2024; and (4) Will be rebidding for King Olav, all companies present had errors on their bids.
The Parks and Garden Committee will inform the Board that all the Adult Garden spots are rented, and the Children’s shed roof will be re-shingled.
Finally, the Finance Committee will present the bills and a financial report.
