Letter: Judge assigned for Iola sand mine case

By Greg Ambrosius

Judge Vincent Biskupic, (Branch VI) circuit court judge in Outagamie County, has been assigned to hear our appeal on the Faulks Bros’ sand mine permit in the Township of Scandinavia.

No date has been assigned as of now but should be coming in the next week.

Judge Biskupic was assigned to the case on Friday, April 5th by Chief Judge Carrie A. Schneider of the Eighth Judicial District. All three Waupaca County judges either recused themselves or were substituted out by the two parties. We asked to substitute Judge Raymond Huber after Waupaca County asked to substitute out Judge Vicki Clussman.

Judge Biskupic was appointed to the bench by former Governor Scott Walker in 2014. Biskupic previously was the District Attorney in Outagamie County from 1994 to 2003 before going into private practice from 2003 to 2014.

In 2002, Judge Biskupic was a Republican candidate for attorney general, the top prosecutor job in Wisconsin. He lost that election to Democratic challenger Peg Lautenschlager, 52-48 percent.
