Leland Kenneth Hermanson

February 27, 1945 – January 12, 2025

Leland Kenneth Hermanson, 79, formerly of Iola, Wisconsin, died on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025. He resided at the Manawa Community Nursing Home in Manawa, Wisconsin, since 2020.

Leland was born on Feb. 27, 1945, in Iola to the late Cyrus and Minnie (Larson) Hermanson.

Leland graduated from Iola-Scandinavia High School in 1963.

He was known to be a walker. Leland would be seen walking on the side of the road to several neighboring towns and special events. Leland often found a rich inner life and developed great satisfaction in simple pleasures like walking, observing nature, and quiet pursuits. His love for watching westerns, listening to music, and observing cats aligned well with his solitary lifestyle.

He is survived by nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Myrtle Hermanson; and special friend, Carrie (Joe Barden) Pennebecker-Barden. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hermanson.

A Graveside Service for Leland will be held on Friday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m., at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Iola with Rev. Dale Wilson officiating.

The family would like to thank the Manawa Community Nursing Home for the excellent care that was provided to Leland.
