Eighteen years ago, Lion Ralph Bostwick approached the Iola Lions Club with an idea about giving to the Lions Pride Endowment Fund, specifically to help ensure the future of the Wisconsin Lions Camp in Rosholt, Wisconsin
He came up with Cans 4 Camp! He started by collecting aluminum cans from local highways. After that, he visited some local businesses and began collecting their aluminum cans. Then he approached a few businesses about putting up collection bins on their premises.
Over the years, the Lions have collected from over six businesses, four drop-off sites, the Iola Military Show, the Iola Fireworks, and the Scandinavia Corn Roast!
Lion “Can Man” Ralph would like to announce that over those 18 years, more than $58,000 has been donated to the Lions Camp!
Like all good things, they have to come to an end.
The Iola Lions have decided to discontinue their Cans 4 Camp project. The last day to drop off your cans at the Lions bins is Saturday, June 28. The bins will be removed on Monday, June 30.
The Lions appreciate your backing the Lions Camp and the Iola Lions! This wouldn’t have been accomplished without outstanding community support.
