Iola-Scandinavia high school softball team won their first two games of the season on their spring training trip at the Wide World of Sports complex at Disney World in Florida.
The Thunderbirds beat Greens Farms Academy from Westport, Connecticut, 8-0, in the first game and followed that up with a 15-2 win over King School from Stamford, Connecticut.
Pitcher Julia Munoz went the distance in the first game to take the win. Munoz and the
I-S softball team (2-0) won their first two games of the season on their spring training trip at the Wide World of Sports complex at Disney World in Florida.
Munoz went the distance in the first game to take the win. Munoz allowed four hits, one walk while striking out five batters. In the second game, junior pitcher Maddie Much pitched all five innings, allowing three hits, no walks while striking out seven batters.
Senior Jaelyn Sivertson and freshman Brooklyn Berrens each had four hits for the day. Sivertson drove in two runs and Berrens had a triple. Senior Clara Koles and junior Maddie Much each had three hits. Koles had a triple and three RBI’s. Senior Marin Hoyord and juniors Myah Heschke and Julia Munoz each had a double.
