Kenneth Roy Prell obituary

Kenneth Roy Prell

May 5, 1952 – February 24, 2024

Kenneth Roy Prell, 71, passed away Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at home surrounded by his family after a brief illness.

He was born on May 5, 1952, to the late Elmer and Sylvia (Kangas) Prell in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

After graduation from Tremper High School, he was employed by American Motors/Chrysler Corp. There he met his future wife Lynn Elaine Anderson. They married on June 29, 1974. Together they raised four children.

During plant layoffs and cutbacks, Ken always found work. He opened Touch of Class bar and grill in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, with his late brother-in-law George Anderson.  He owned and operated Miken Construction with his friend and business partner Mike, where they did siding and construction and installed above-ground pools.

Ken was introduced to the Iola area by his friend Lee, whom he hunted with. He found a place on Moon Lake and he and Lynn bought it 37 years ago. After retirement, they became Iola residents.

Ken never sat idle.  He had several part-time jobs. He worked at Fleet Farm in the yard in Waupaca, worked at Iola Assisted Living doing maintenance, and his favorite was cutting the greens at Glen Cairn Golf Course.

He loved his classic cars and attended the Iola Car Show each year for many, many years. It was a special time for him and his family. It was his family reunion each year. He felt proud that the new Iola Car Show Welcome sign has his two show cars on it!

Ken enjoyed helping his friends. He built garages, did electrical, worked on cars, and lent a helping hand when he could.

Ken enjoyed shooting pool on his Thursday night league for many years for Schmidt’s Corners with his pool partner Joe and shooting pool with Lynn on the Sunday Couples league. He also enjoyed golfing at Glen Cairn.

Ken leaves behind his loving wife Lynn Prell, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories and love. He is also survived by his children Kevin (Michele) Prell of Carol Stream, Illinois, Jason (Vanessa Rodriguez) Prell of Miami Beach, Florida, daughter Abbey (Joseph Ganzer) Prell of Eagle River, Wisconsin, and his son Brandon (Emily) Prell of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and five grandchildren Ryan Prell, Weston Prell, Charli Prell, Harper Prell, and Waylon Prell. He is also survived by his sisters Sandi (Lynn Howard) Obertin Kenosha, and Lynda (Robert) Davidson of Arizona, and many nieces and nephews. He is also missed by his 18-year-old dog Stella.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Lorna Zuhlke, Margaret Prell, Edna (Charles) Boero, and his brother Elmer G.(Diane) Prell.

A visitation for Ken will be held at the Voie Funeral Home, on Saturday, March 23, from 11-2 p.m. Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and honor the life of a man who touched the hearts of many.

In memory of Kenneth Roy Prell, may his legacy of hard work, love, and kindness continue to inspire those who knew him.  May he rest in eternal peace.
