Jim Wink

James Henry Wink, age 81, of Iola, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021.
He was born on Oct. 9, 1939, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late John and Lorraine (Barth) Wink.
Jim was a great lover and connoisseur of automobiles. He was a salesman at various Milwaukee car dealerships in the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s. From 1998-2006, he worked at the Iola-Scandinavia School district as a member of the maintenance department and was affectionately know as “Mr. Wink”.
In retirement, he cleared many nature trails of brush and debris in the Iola area for all to enjoy. He volunteered at the Iola Car Show for many years.
James is survived by Stormy the dog; his sister Janice K. (James) Ihlenfeld, Aurora, Illinois; nephew David J. (Audi) Ihlenfeld and Matthew J. Ihlenfeld, Los Angeles, California; cousins Dale (BongChung) Koch, Pennsylvania, Katherine (Alan) Pfeil, New Jersey, and Gary (Susanne) Lukacek, Wisconsin; ex-wifeJane Wink. Also surviving are stepdaughter Suzette (Mark) Merkel and their children Jonalee (Adam) Kuhn, and their children Elijah and Branson. He is survived by step-grandson Jake (Amber) Merkel and their children Mya, Elliana, Amelia and Alaina; step-grandson James (Aubrie) Merkel; stepdaughter Annette (Peter) Skok; step-grandson John Skok and granddaughter Jennelle Skok.
He was preceded in death by his dogs Cooney and Beazer, parents Lorraine (Barth) and John Wink.
A graveside service will be held at the North New Hope Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of New Hope, Portage County, Wisconsin, on Thursday, May 13 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in memory of Jim at the Iola Winter Sports Club.
