Iola Village Board to tackle key resolutions, zoning changes, and legal matters on May 13

The Village of Iola Board will convene on Tuesday, May 13, at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Iola Village Hall to address a range of pressing issues, including the adoption of new resolutions, updates on legal proceedings, and the approval of zoning changes.

Key actions include a decision on the use of goats for buckthorn removal, a resolution for sustainable camping initiatives, and various zoning adjustments. The board will also review the progress of ongoing revitalization projects and discuss several ordinance violations.

The meeting’s agenda includes the approval of meeting minutes from multiple prior sessions, ranging from working boards to zoning and parks committees. The board will also hear reports from various committees, including the Community Development Authority and the Protection of Persons and Property Committee.

Members of the public will have an opportunity to present brief statements, with a time limit of two minutes per speaker.

Additionally, the board will address various ordinance violations concerning garbage accumulation and dilapidated buildings in the Village. A resolution to combine parcels 26 35 74 4 and 26 35 74 22 will also be reviewed as part of the new business.

The Finance Committee will present its monthly financial report, while the Parks and Garden Committee will update the board on issues with the baseball field, as well as progress on the Community and Children’s Garden and the dog park donation board.
