Members of the Village of Iola governing bodies will convene Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the Village Hall Community Room, 180 South Main Street, to conduct a caucus and a regular board meeting focused on nominating candidates for village trustee positions, addressing resignations, and acting on routine governance and committee matters.

Village Caucus

The caucus will begin at 5:15 p.m., immediately followed by the Village Board meeting at 5:30 p.m., with actions intended to ensure continuity in village leadership and advance administrative and community business.

The caucus will be called to order by Village President Jennifer Schustek and will include the appointment of a caucus chair. The primary purpose of the caucus will be to open the floor for nominations for the offices of Village Trustee 1, Village Trustee 2, and Village Trustee 3. The caucus will adjourn after nominations are completed.

Regular Board Meeting

Following the caucus, the Village of Iola Board meeting will be called to order at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will open with a statement confirming compliance with Wisconsin’s open meetings law, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence. A roll call of board members will be conducted.

The agenda will include a public presentation period, allowing up to two minutes per presentation. Board members will then consider approval of minutes from several prior meetings, including the Dec. 9, 2025, regular board meeting; Dec. 10, 2025, meetings of the Finance, Personnel, and Police Committee and the Community Development Authority; and the Jan. 6, 2026, Personnel and Police Committee meeting.

New Business

Under new business, the board will take up a donation from Waupaca County Crime Stoppers designated for a community safety project. Board members will also review an address request for parcel 26 35 71577 and will formally acknowledge the resignations of Ed Staal and Benjamin Strojny.

Committee reports will follow, with updates scheduled from Planning and Zoning, the Community Development Authority, Personnel, Library, Protection of Persons and Property, Public Works, Ordinance, Parks and Garden, Finance, Revitalization, and the Iola-Scandinavia Chamber of Commerce. Several committees will report upcoming meeting dates, including joint Personnel, Police, and Finance meetings on Jan. 14, 2026, and a joint Parks and Revitalization meeting on Jan. 20, 2026.

The Planning & Zoning Committee is looking for a new member. The Finance Committee will present bills for consideration, the December 2025 financial report, and information regarding the village’s upcoming 2025 audit scheduled for Feb. 9–11, 2026. The Library Committee will provide December 2025 circulation and programming statistics, while the Protection of Persons and Property Committee will report on December 2025 service activity.

The board will also review future monthly Board of Trustees meeting dates, including Jan. 27 and Feb. 10. Finally, Board correspondence will be addressed before the meeting is adjourned.
