The Iola Village Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, in the Community Room at Iola Village Hall, 180 South Main Street, to discuss a variety of community matters, including the approval of trick-or-treat hours, the hiring of a full-time police officer, and a conditional use permit for campground cabins. The board is also set to review several resolutions, licenses, and public works reports.
Among the key topics in new business, the board will determine whether to approve trick-or-treat hours on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 2-4 p.m.
They will also discuss granting a conditional use permit to the Iola Pines Campground to add four cabins.
Another significant item is the potential hiring of a full-time police officer following the resignation of Officer A. Mata. The board will consider a proposal for filling the vacancy. During the meeting, Colton Wegner will be sworn in as a new full-time police officer.
Additionally, temporary alcohol licenses and fee waivers for the Iola Fire & Ambulance Fall Festival on Oct. 5 will be addressed.
Another concern for the board will be brush cutting along the Little Wolf River.
The board will also hear updates on water inspections, a cross-connection plan, and two related resolutions aimed at improving village compliance with state water regulations. Finally, a decision on renting out a side office at 150 Depot Street for $300 per month plus utilities will be considered, as well as a proposal to change the clerk’s office hours.
The meeting will conclude with committee reports.
