Iola Village Board to address outdoor music complaints and food truck regulations

The Village of Iola Board will hold a working meeting on Tuesday, March 25, at 5 p.m. at the Iola Village Hall. The meeting will address several community concerns, including ongoing complaints about outdoor music, potential regulations for food trucks, and the presentation of the 2024 Kerber Rose audit. The board may also enter a closed session to discuss sensitive personnel matters.

The meeting will be conducted under Robert’s Rules of Order, ensuring a structured discussion. Citizens attending are encouraged to silence their phones and adhere to time limits during the public presentation session.

Outdoor Music Complaints

Residents of Iola will have an opportunity to voice their opinions regarding outdoor music disturbances. The board is expected to consider possible noise ordinances or restrictions to address the concerns while balancing the needs of local businesses.

Food Truck Regulations

Another major item will focus on food trucks operating within the village. As the popularity of mobile vendors continues to grow, officials will discuss potential licensing, zoning regulations, and health and safety requirements. Some local business owners have expressed concerns about unfair competition, while others support the discussion on diversity and convenience food trucks, which could lead to new ordinances governing their operation.

The board will also review findings from the 2024 Kerber Rose audit.

Closed Session to Address Confidential Matters

Following open discussions, the board may enter a closed session under Wisconsin Statute 19.85(1)(f) to consider “financial, medical, social or personal histories or disciplinary data of specific persons, preliminary consideration of specific personnel problems or the investigation of charges against specific persons except where par. (b) applies which, if discussed in public, would be likely to have a substantial adverse effect upon the reputation of any person referred to in such histories or data, or involved in such problems or investigations.”

The Board will then adjourn the closed session and enter the public session to take action on what was discussed and decided in the closed session.
