The monthly Village Board Meeting of the Village of Iola was held Monday July 13, at 6 p.m. via GoToMeeting and in person, by special accommodations.
President Joel Edler called the regular monthly meeting of the Iola Village Board of Trustees to order. President Edler made the open meeting statement that this meeting and all other meetings of this Board are open to the public.
Board members present: President Joel Edler, Trustees: Jim Rasmussen, Terry Murphy, Missy Fenn, Kathy Briquelet, Dave Harper, Pamela Parks. Others present: Bruce Meagher, Clerk Betty Aanstad.
The Pledge of Allegiance was not said, due to the Public Notice Meeting held prior to the regular monthly meeting and was led by President Edler at that time.
President Edler entertained a motion to approve the agenda for the July 13, meeting. Dave Harper made the motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Jim Rasmussen. Motion carried.
Harper made a motion to approve the minutes from the June 8, meeting, with the following amendment: In the paragraph “A motion was made by Dave Harper to approve the following liquor licenses for the following: Class B Beer, Class B Liquor: Whitetail Lanes DBA as The Iron Grille – Stephen Cieskwicz; Northern Lights Bar & Grille, LLC – Mary L. Sisk; JD’s Corner Bar, LLC – Jeff Domask; Thirsty Perch, LLC – Sherri Miller; Too-Dars Diner, LLC – Diane Ayres. Class A Beer, Class A Liquor: Depot Street Station, LLC – Erik Hanson; Finally, K Inc. aka Iola Sentry Foods – Doug Kulinski: Class B Beer, Class C Wine: Crystal Café of Iola – Judith Boiler; Millstone of Iola Mills LLC – Thomas Fucik. Seconded by Terry Murphy to approve the liquor licenses. “No vote was taken”.
A discussion was held regarding reducing the cost of the liquor licenses for 2020-21 due to the pandemic. A motion to grant the liquor licenses, by Jim Rasmussen, but dropping the cost of the Class B liquor licenses by
$100. Seconded by Kathy Briquelet. Motion carried.” “No vote was taken” was added to the minutes. Pamela Parks seconded it. Motion carried.
No report was available from the Protection of Persons and Property Committee (Police Report)
Harper made a motion to accept the MBM/Xerox contract Jim Rasmussen, seconded the motion. Motion carried.
It was decided to table the purchase of the ICE voting machine, until the August meeting. To give the board additional time to research options.
Homestead Realty has offered the old bank parking lot to the Village for expansion to Chet Krause Park. A decision was made to table a decision until after the August meeting, in which Clifford Mishler would come and present a proposal to the board for expansion to Chet Krause Park.
Joel entertained a motion to accept operator’s license for Jenna Hale, Emily Hady, & Janet Tofte at JD’s Corner Bar, pending background checks. Jim made a motion to approve pending police check. Seconded by Pamela Parks. Motion carried.
The board made the decision based on the contract with the school to have Pop Warner reach out to the school for approval to use the park, for Pop Warner football practice.
Committee reports
Personnel: None; Public Property and Streets: None; Parks: Kathy Briquelet reported that the Iola Lake District has paid for the spraying by the docks and along the shore at the park. Spraying has been completed. She also reported that Vidar would not be going back up until Spring 2021, due to the amount of restoration that is needed; Sewer and Water: None; Library: None; Finance, Bills: Jim Rasmussen made a motion to review and sign the bills at a later date. Dave Harper seconded the motion. Motion carried; Correspondence and communications: None.

Terry Murphy made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Dave Harper seconded the motion. Motion carried.
