Shannon Huettner is married to her husband Paul. They have three children: Brady 26, Brianne 24, and Bryce 20. Shannon has three younger sisters.

She has 3 dogs: Golden Retriever Bella (13.5 years old), Golden Doodle Cinder Bear (6 years), and foster dog Fletcher (7 months).

Shannon graduated from Iola-Scandinavia High School in 1988. She attended UWSP and received a B.A. in Broadfield Social Science, at Marian College earned a Masters in Educational Leadership, and a Masters in Principal & Director of Instruction.

She chose to work in a school because “I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives; impact the future; create a classroom and school that was safe and fun and where kids wanted to be at day to day.”

She has traveled to many places throughout the U.S., a Caribbean Cruise, and a high school trip to Italy.

Some of her hobbies include reading, entertaining family and friends, watching sports of all kinds, and snuggling with her dogs.

Some other jobs she has held are one of two paid employees in the early years of the Iola Old Car Show, summer college job and she has been a front desk attendant at the I-S Fitness and Aquatic Center.

Her goals are “Road trips to all National Parks with my husband in the summers before we retire, all-inclusive resort vacation for Spring Break (COVID prevented me from this 50th birthday trip last year), and to successfully foster Fletcher and see him find a loving forever home – and then maybe foster another dog.”

Her greatest accomplishment: “Hands down, my children!”

Something you may not know about Shannon is “When I went to college I originally majored in political science hoping to go to law school, practice and then one day run for a political office.”

On weekends she likes to sleep in (7:30 a.m.), have the kids all come home, campfires, and have dinner with friends.

Her favorite sports teams are UW-Oshkosh Titans, Packers, Brewers, Badgers, and of course the T-Birds, once a Thunderbird always a Thunderbird!

She enjoys all types of music, but classic rock, 1970s hits are probably her favorite. Her favorite movie is Top Gun.

“In May all three of my children will be UWO students: Bryce Majoring in Mathematics Education; Brianne pursuing her Masters Degree in Counseling; and Brady earning his BSN in the accelerated Nursing Program.”

Thank you, Shannon, for all that you do!
