Iola-Scandinavia T-Bird Spotlight: Erin Bonikowske

Erin Bonikowske

By Iola-Scandinavia School District

Erin Bonikowske is married to her husband, Nathan. They have two children, McKenzie and Abi. Erin has a brother and a sister that she calls her best friends.

Erin graduated from Iola-Scandinavia High School. She attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire with a degree in Elementary Education.

She chose to work in a school because “From the time I was a little girl in elementary school, I wanted to be a teacher. I wanted to work with children. I wanted to help them enjoy learning, and especially reading, as much as I did.”

She is not a huge traveler. She went to Spain in high school, and she and her husband traveled to Germany five years ago on a work trip. She has been to Canada a few times to visit family, and vacationed in Florida, Texas, and South Dakota. She truly enjoys being home.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing volleyball, scrapbooking and watching her daughters participate in various events.

Erin was a substitute teacher while she searched for a teaching job, and she spent summers working on staff at the Iola Car Show office during that same time.

Her biggest goal is to be the kind of person that both of her parents are. They are patient, kind, good, and the most amazing role models and parents that anyone could have.

Weekends when she doesn’t have to set her alarm are her favorite!

She loves playing and watching sports but has never really wanted to coach.

Her favorite teams are all Thunderbird sports teams! She enjoys Country music and her favorite book is The False Prince.

Thank you Erin for all that you do!
