The Oct. 9 meeting of the School District oof Iola Scandinavia Board was called to order in the High School Auditorium by Mike Harbridge at 7:31 p.m. with the reading of the official notice. Roll call was taken.
Board members present included Mike Harbridge, Diana Jones, Laura Krogwold, Mike Grassl, Paul Huettner, Tony Neumann, and Vanessa Kirmse. Administration present included Chris Nelson, Sarah Thiel, Jan Bue-Wells, Stacey Wester, and Tammy Bauer.
Observer’s present were Robbie Lashua, Chris Kasper, Greg Krogwold, Holly Neumann, Megan Driebel, Hayli Breyhan, Jill Willems, Cari Honken, Kristen Bertsch, Tessa Thurs, and Erin Bonikowske
One highlight of the evening was the generous donation from Tigerton Lumber Company, contributing lumber with a value of $1687.50.
Under Committee reports, a decision was made as the board accepted the resignation of Special Education EA Vanessa Kirmse. However, the Board swiftly approved the hiring of the Special Education EA positions as presented.
Further, the Board gave the green light to the Spring 2024 ECCP and SCN requests, showcasing their commitment to educational initiatives. Additionally, a policy revision, namely Policy 8310, was approved.
A nod to future plans, the Board granted approval for the 2024-25 Volleyball overnight travel, solidifying their support for extracurricular activities. The motion, initiated by Paul Huettner and seconded by Mike Grassl, sailed through with approval by a voice vote.
