LISTENING SESSION: State Sen. Cory Tomczyk and State Rep. Brent Jacobson will hold a listening session on Monday, April 28, from 1-2 p.m. at the Iola Village Hall I the Iola Community Room. These sessions are intended for discussion of the 2025-27 Biennial Budget and other issues important to constituents.
CHILDREN’S GARDEN: Anyone interested in joining the children’s garden, you can sign up at Iola Village Hall for ages 4-12, it runs for nine weeks starting in June and is open to Iola and Amherst school districts children. Cost is $15 per child and includes the price of plants, weekly activities like scarecrow making, frogs, and much more. It is on Thursday from 1-2:30 p.m., the first day is on Saturday, June 7, for planting day, after that it is on Thursday afternoons from 1-2:30 p.m. except there are two weeks off one around July 4th and the other is car show week.
STORYWALK AT JORGENS PARK: Spring has sprung, and you know what that means — the return of the library’s StoryWalk® in Jorgens Park Preserve! Even better? This is the 10th anniversary of our StoryWalk®, and we’re celebrating with ten all-new books this year! First up is “This Is the Planet Where I Live,” a story celebrating and honoring the interconnectedness of everything here on planet Earth, written by award-winning author K.L. Going and illustrated by Debra Frasier. This book is a joyous ode to our wondrous planet and the perfect story to read for Earth Day (or any day)! Learn more about the StoryWalk® here.

FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT: On April 16th, at 8:33 p.m., the Waupaca County Communications Center received a report of a motor vehicle crash on State Highway 22/110 at Fuhs Road in the Township of Little Wolf. Preliminary investigation determined the crash involved three northbound vehicles: a pickup truck, a passenger vehicle, and a tractor. The pickup truck rear-ended the tractor, causing both the driver and passenger of the tractor to be ejected. The passenger of the tractor was then struck by the passenger vehicle. The male passenger of the tractor was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

RIGHT TO CLEAN ENVIRONMENT BILL: A coalition of Democratic lawmakers reintroduced the Wisconsin Green Amendment Wednesday at the state Capitol. The amendment would enshrine Wisconsinites’ right to a clean, safe and healthy natural environment in the state constitution.
They want the state government to do more to mitigate environmental concerns like PFAS contamination, nitrate runoff, air quality issues, lead contamination and climate change. Read the WKOW article here.
