Iola-Scandinavia is buzzing with excitement as preparations are underway for a magnificent fireworks celebration set to ignite the night sky on Monday, July 3. In case of inclement weather, the rain date has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 5, ensuring that the festivities go on no matter what.
The event is sponsored by the Iola-Scandinavia Chamber of Commerce.
The event will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with an epic showdown on the diamond, pitting the I-S Class of 2023 against the forces of the Class of 2024-25 in a thrilling softball game. The atmosphere promises to be electric as students from different graduating classes come together.
Adding to the excitement, the Iola and Scandinavia fire departments will engage in a friendly but intense softball game of their own. Expect heated competition as these local heroes take to the field, vying for bragging rights and displaying their athletic prowess.
As the sun begins to set, anticipation mounts for the highlight of the evening — an awe-inspiring display of fireworks that will paint the sky with brilliant colors and patterns. To fuel the excitement and satisfy hungry appetites, the I-S Chamber of Commerce and the T-Birds Booster Club will operate food and beverage stands at Taylor Park. Visitors can indulge in a variety of delectable treats, including popcorn, while supporting these local organizations.
Prior to the fireworks show, the winners of the I-S Chamber of Commerce Fireworks Raffle will be announced at Taylor Field. Raffle tickets have been available for purchase both locally and at the Taylor Field Ballpark, with the chance to win a generous $1,000 cash prize, among other enticing rewards. The proceeds from the raffle will go towards supporting the Iola-Scandinavia Chamber of Commerce fireworks display, ensuring that future celebrations continue to dazzle the community.
