The following report from the Iola-Scandinavia Fitness and Aquatic Center was submitted for the Sept. 12 School District of Iola-Scandinavia Board meeting.
The I-SRA is working on a flag football and volleyball program this fall. Parents have been getting the word out and planning to run the teams.
During the end of August and early September, we finished up some painting and cleaning jobs prior to the school opening.
The front doors and windows have a new look, which has been very well accepted by the community.
We have had good staffing numbers all summer and we hope to continue that this school year. At times we are low at lifeguard, but it usually works out fine.
We continue to have private swimming lessons during September and it has gone really well.
We began the process of increasing the fees for the I-SCFAC and day pass increases started September 1. The membership fees will begin to increase October 1. This allowed us a little more time to get the paperwork and computer system set up.
Fee increases for 2022-23
Memberships have increased by $20 annually, $10 for six months, and $5 per month. Day passes have increased by $2.
Also increased are punched cards for water classes.
Group swimming lesson fees are increased by $5.
The facility offers insurance supplemental programs (Silver Sneakers, Renew Active, Silver and Fit). These programs are used by senior citizens. The facility is considering adding a $15 processing fee to these programs because of the amount of information gathering required. The average fee paid by these programs is $2 per visit. The facility sees an average of about $600 monthly from these programs.
