Iola-Scandinavia events for the Week of Nov. 12

There are many activities throughout of communities to enjoy this time of year. Here’s an overview of what’s ahead this week.

November 12

This day promises to be a day filled with music to enjoy. It’s “Vinyl Sunday” at Odin & Freja’s Place in Scandinavia, where residents can immerse themselves in the nostalgic tunes of vinyl records, creating an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie. Later in the day, the Iola Village Library welcomes everyone to “Come Craft with Us” from 5-6:30 p.m. This crafting event aims to bring people together, fostering creativity and collaboration within the community.

November 13

As the sun sets, the community gears up for action. The Iola-Scandinavia Middle School Boys Basketball team hosts Weyauwega-Fremont at 5 p.m., promising an exciting match for sports enthusiasts.

Simultaneously, various meetings take place across the area., the Friends of Scandinavia History convene at the Scandinavia Municipal Center, and the Harrison Township Board meets at Northland Lutheran Church. Meanwhile, the Iola-Scandinavia School Board assembles in the elementary school library at 7 p.m.

November 14

The day begins with the “Mission Quilt” event at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola, from 8-11 a.m. This charitable endeavor not only showcases the community’s creativity but also contributes to a noble cause. In the afternoon, the Iola-Scandinavia Chamber of Commerce holds its meeting at 3 p.m. in the Iola Village Hall. The Iola Village Board gathers at the Iola Community Center at 5:30 p.m. Later, sports fans can cheer on the Iola-Scandinavia JV and Varsity Girls Basketball teams as they host Waupaca at 5:45 p.m.

November 15

The Iola Village Library hosts “Preschool Storytime” at 10 a.m., providing a delightful experience for the little ones. Meanwhile, the Silver Lake Lanes invite cribbage enthusiasts to a tournament at 1 p.m. In the evening, the Northland Sports Bar & Grill becomes the stage for a Bluegrass performance at 7 p.m., promising a night of foot-tapping melodies.

November 16

The morning starts with a “Community Coffee” event at the Scandinavia Municipal Center from 8-10:30 a.m. Later, the Scandinavia Public Library invites residents to join a “Crafting Bee” at 10 a.m., followed by a “Mystery Book Club” meeting at the Iola Village Library at noon. In the evening, the community can showcase their talents at the “Open Mic” event hosted by Odin & Freja’s Place in Scandinavia at 7 p.m.

November 17

This is a Professional Development Day which grants a break from school activities. Residents can participate in the “Sit-n-Stitch” event at 2 p.m. in the Iola Village Library or enjoy “Family Friday” from 2:30-4:30 p.m., featuring salt soaks and scented soaps.

November 18

The week concludes with an “Embellished Fabric Greeting Cards Craft” at the Scandinavia Public Library at 10 a.m. The evening brings entertainment with Rich Travis performing at Odin & Freja’s Place in Scandinavia at 7:30 p.m.

November 19

The weekend wraps up with another “Vinyl Sunday” at Odin & Freja’s Place, providing a harmonious conclusion to a week filled with community spirit and diverse activities.
