Iola-Scandinavia area Aug. 13 primary election and new Assembly district candidates

New Assembly District maps with county outlines.

For the Iola-Scandinavia area, there will be various offices with a primary election to determine candidates for the fall election.

Congressional District 8

With the exit of Mike Gallagher (R-Green Bay), there will be three Republicans vying for his seat. They are (in order of the ballot) Tony Weid, Andre Jacque, and Roger Roth. On the Democrat side, Kristin Lyerly is the only person running.

U.S. Senator

Republicans have three candidates: Eric Hovde, Charles E. Barman, and Rejani Raveendran. For the Democrats, Tammy Baldwin is the incumbent.

Wisconsin Assembly District 87

Under new mapping of Wisconsin legislative districts, Iola-Scandinavia is no longer in Kevin Petersen’s district. Waupaca County is split among several districts.

Republican candidates are Brent Jacobson and Cory Sillars. The only Democrat running is William Switalla.

That part of Waupaca County consisting of all of the following:

(a) The towns of Dupont, Harrison, Helvetia, Iola, Scandinavia, Union, and

Wyoming.

(b) The villages of Big Falls, Iola, and Scandinavia.

(c) That part of the city of Marion located in the county.

Waupaca County Register of Deeds

Jeremy Schoenike and Mary B. Keehn face off in the primary election for Republicans. No Democrat is running for this office.

Likewise, no Democrat is running for other county elected positions.
