January 15

On the occasion of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, the Iola-Scandinavia area is bustling with events on Jan. 15. Early risers can join the Strong Bones class at I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center at 8 a.m., followed by Water Therapy from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Yoga enthusiasts can head to the Center For Living Well at 9 a.m.

Later in the day, the Naomi Circle will meet at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at 1:30 p.m. Sports fans can catch the Iola-Scandinavia High School JV2 Girls Basketball game at Amherst at 4:30 p.m., while fitness enthusiasts can attend the bARRe session at I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center at 5 p.m. The day concludes with the Iola Lions Club meeting at Crystal Café at 5:30 p.m., featuring speakers Jay Hornung, Zone Chair, and Mike Milbach, District Governor.

January 16

The day offers a variety of activities, starting with Quilting at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at 8 a.m. Water Aerobics kick off at I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center at 9 a.m., followed by another session of the Strong Bones class at 10:30 a.m. Pound enthusiasts can join the session at 5 p.m. Middle school girls’ basketball takes the spotlight at 5 p.m., with Iola-Scandinavia Middle School playing against Shiocton. The Iola Village Library hosts the Starry Night Program at 5 p.m., and Deep Water Aerobics follows at 5:30 p.m. The evening showcases multiple basketball games, with Iola-Scandinavia High School JV2 Boys Basketball hosting Manawa at 5:45 p.m., and both JV & Varsity Boys Basketball hosting Manawa at the same time.

January 17

Wednesday starts with the Strong Bones class at I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center at 8 a.m., followed by Water Therapy at 9 a.m. Families can enjoy Pre-School Storytime at Iola Village Library at 10 a.m. Dawn Matzke will lead a session at the Center For Living Well at 10 a.m. Other afternoon and evening activities include Prayer Ministry at Scandinavia Lutheran Church (1 p.m.), Confirmation Class at Our Savior’s Lutheran (3:30 p.m.), Boot Camp at I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center (4 p.m.), Spark at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church (5:30 p.m.), and Bluegrass Music at Northland Sports Bar & Grill at 7 p.m.

January 18

The Scandinavia Municipal Center opens its doors at 8 a.m. for the Community Coffee event, bringing residents together for a warm and welcoming start to the day. Fitness enthusiasts can head to the I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center for Water Aerobics at 9 a.m., ensuring a healthy and active morning. The creative spirit comes alive at the Scandinavia Public Library with the Crafting Bee starting at 10 a.m., offering a space for residents to share and explore various crafts. For those looking to enhance their strength, the I-S Fitness & Aquatic Center hosts the Strong Bones class at 10:30 a.m., providing a session priced at $38. Silver Lake Lanes becomes the battleground for a Cribbage Tournament at 1 p.m., where participants can showcase their card-playing skills.

In the evening, Scandinavia Lutheran Church welcomes Fresh Hope at 6 p.m. The day concludes with an entertaining Open Mic session at Odin & Freja’s Place at 7 p.m., providing a platform for local talent to shine.

January 19

Looking ahead to Friday, the Iola Village Library becomes a hub for creativity with the Sit-n-Stitch event at 2 p.m. Crafters and enthusiasts will gather to share their skills in a cozy environment. Later in the evening, Northland Sports Bar & Grill hosts the Pool Singles Tournament at 6 p.m. Participants can test their skills in a friendly competition, with a $10 entry fee, and the luck of the draw determining opponents.
