In partnership with Lions International and the Iola-Scandinavia School District the Iola Lions held their annual Peace Poster Contest.

Lion Mark Forseth announced the winners of the contest to the 6th grade class. They are: 1st Place Lillian Wiskirchen, 2nd Place Aubrey Weinreis and Sophia Jones, 3rd Place Nola Mae Vater and Casey Hendricks.

Lillian’s first-place poster will move on to compete at the Lion’s district level.

Local artist Sharon Anderson handled the judging duties for the Lions.

The five winners will share a $350 prize pool provided by the Iola Lions.

Jill Willems, the school’s art teacher, said, “Thank you to Mark Forseth and the Iola Lions for their efforts to continue this wonderful art contest. This poster contest unites our sixth graders to a wonderful community organization in a combined effort promoting peace globally!”

Lion Mark Forseth said, “The quality of the posters makes judging extremely difficult. We’re so thankful Sharon Anderson assisted in this task.”

The Lions would also like to thank the 42 students that participated in the contest.
