Iola Lions Club hears community updates

The Iola Lions Club met on Feb. 20 at the Crystal Cafe.

The board discussed a project at the Iola Recycling Center. The club also discussed the Iola Lions Beverage stand, Spring and Fall Community Work Nights, Chet Krause Memorial Park planning, the April Easter Party, Post Prom, and the upcoming Agribusiness meeting to be held March 20.

The attendance of about 30 member and Guests Terry Handrich and Jeff Keller from the Marion Lions Club. Terry and Jeff were promoting the Marion Lions Club Fish Derby. Additional guests included Tracey Ambacher Jr. and Adam Skadsen, who gave reports on the Winter Carnival including Tracey’s report on the Youth Fish Derby and Adam’s report on the Ice Sculpting.

Following a delicious meal, the club was given an update from Greg Loescher, president of the Iola Scandinavia Chamber Commerce.

Lion Scott Bestul also gave a brief report regarding the discovery of chronic wasting disease in Whitetail deer in Waupaca County and the need for additional testing sites.
