Local 6th Graders recognized for creative vision

The Iola Lions Club, in partnership with Lions International and the Iola-Scandinavia School District, hosted its annual Peace Poster Contest this week, inviting 6th-grade students to showcase their artistic talents and visions for peace.
During a special classroom presentation, Lion Chris Nelson revealed the contest results to excited students. Quinn Rosenthal claimed the top honor, with Kendra Melby, Ryan Bertsch, and Jade Grassl named as runner-ups. The quartet shared a $250 prize pool, generously provided by the Iola Lions Club.
Local artist Sharon Anderson took on the challenging role of judging the entries. “These kids are very talented which makes judging extremely difficult. We’re so thankful Sharon Anderson assisted in this task,” commented Lion Mark Forseth, recognizing both the skill of the participants and the expertise of the judge.
Rosenthal’s winning poster will advance to compete at the Lions district level, offering the young artist a larger stage to share their creative message of peace.
I-S Art Teacher Jennifer Prideaux expressed her gratitude for the collaboration, saying, “I appreciate the opportunity for our students to work with the Lions Club. Looking forward to it again next year.”
The Iola Lions Club offered thanks to Prideaux and all the students who participated, celebrating the power of creative expression among local youth.
