Below is an update on what the Iola Historical has been doing over the past several months.
- Both the 1912 Sears car and the Bestul car were shown in the building at the Car Show this year.
- Limestone fines for our new pathways have been obtained.
- Young Historian membership category for those who are high school age or in college has been created.
- The Strawberry Fest event (yesterday) used 45.5 gallons of the 149 gallons of strawberries. The estimated attendance for Strawberry Fest is 250 people.
- The HIS participated in Taste & Tunes on July 16 & 17, hosting an entertainer during its normal open house hours on Saturday the July 17.
- Historical marker #18, for Clifford Thompson, was installed by the Crystal Café at the end of March.
- Plans still moving forward to create displays in the museum garage area.
- The Waupaca County map from 1874 is being framed.
- Cliff brought up the possible fourth event for us next year … the back-to-school ice cream social. Kid’s games, portable gelato maker, hot dogs, get families involved, more orientated to children.
- Lee and and Bonny continue to work on organizing the Iola Herald collection. About twenty bound copies of the Manawa Advocate, which were donated to the library in Manawa.
