The Iola Historical Society will host an exciting and engaging meeting on Monday, Sept. 30, at the Machine Shed, located at 222 Depot Street, Iola. This month’s meeting promises to be a dynamic gathering as members prepare for upcoming events and dive into a nostalgic program centered on memories of schooling in Iola.
The evening will begin with the Board Meeting at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Membership Meeting at 6:30 p.m. The main attraction for the night will be the Back to School—Way Back! program, starting at 7 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to share their favorite stories about grade school teachers and early education experiences in the community. This session promises to transport members back in time as they reflect on cherished memories.
At the core of the Membership Meeting, one of the most important agenda items will be the final planning for the highly anticipated Taste of Norway & Lost Arts Fair, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 5. With only a few days left until this community event, members will discuss essential preparations.
The meeting will also include a discussion about an upcoming event on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. The Iola Historical Society will gather at CLK Legacy Park for the unveiling of a new Historic Marker. This marker will commemorate significant historical events and contributions that have shaped the community, marking another achievement in the Society’s efforts to preserve local history.
