
The Iola Historical Society met on Monday, June 27, in the Machine Shed on Depot Street at 6:44 p.m.
The society unveiling two historical markers in July. The first is at Riverside Cemetery and at a bridge over the South Branch of the Little Wolf River which was first installed in 1862 or 1863.
The group made a $200 donation to the American Legion and donated a pail of strawberries to Living Oaks and The Willows.
Strawberry Fest had 109 visitors in the firehouse. Members of the 4-H handed out string cheese to promote June Dairy Month.
Charlie Thompson was recognized and thanked for pressure washing the depot platform.
During Show and Tell, Lee Halverson showed a foul ball hit by Henry Aaron at a Braves game. Sue Halverson displayed an ox yoke from the 1800s. Charlie Thompson showed a photo of the Anderson School 8th Grade Class of 1948 and his custom-made Gibson banjo. John Bertelson Jr. displayed a musky fishing pole and a few wooden lures his father once owned.
