Iola Car Show solicits support for open pit mining by direct mail

In a direct mail piece dated Dec. 6, the Iola Car Show Board of Directors and Iola Car Show Staff solicited support from “all of our local volunteer organizations and businesses” to support the Iola-Scandinavia open pit mining operation by submitting “letters/emails in support of the positive impacts the Iola Car Show has on them to our local officials.”

Those local officials are Jennifer Schustek, president of the Village of Iola, and Gary Marx, chairman of the Town of Scandinavia.

The entire letter is reproduced below.

The letter ends with the following paragraphs:

There is a meeting at the Scandinavia Municipal Center on December 14 at 5 p.m. It would be very helpful if committee members from Iola Village and Scandinavia had received letters of support that share the positive impacts the Iola Car Show has on businesses and organizations prior to the meeting. The meeting will be a great place to get accurate information on the planned project and ask questions. Sharing how the Iola Car Show supports your missions and projects will be an important aspect of their consideration.

We are calling on our local volunteer organizations and businesses to express their support to town officials. If you prefer, you do not need to weigh in specifically in favor or opposed to the pit operation, but might instead focus on how your group or business is positively impacted by Iola Car Show, Inc.
