Incident at I-S schools “no threat to students or the school”

Below is a statement sent out to Iola-Scandinavia School District staff and families by District Administrator Chris Nelson.

“On March 5, 2023 the Iola Police Department received information about a threatening statement that was made by an Iola-Scandinavia student. The Iola Police Department has investigated the incident. At this time, the police and the Iola-Scandinavia Administration believe there is no threat to students or the school. The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority, and we take threats such as those today very seriously. Our schools are safe, and we look forward to welcoming staff and students back to school tomorrow (March 6), as usual. We are grateful for the local authorities’ quick response and great partnership. In the meantime, please help us by talking to your child about the serious consequences and long-term effects of this type of behavior. Please encourage them to advocate for a positive, safe school environment. With your help and support, we can provide the type of schools our community expects. Thank you for your attention to this important communication. Please do not hesitate to contact me at 715-445-2411 ext. 1401 or send me an email at nelsonc@iola.k12.wi.us.”
