The Iola Historical Society will convene on Monday, July 29, at the Machine Shed located at 222 Depot Street, Iola.
The evening’s events will begin with a board meeting at 5:30 p.m., followed by a membership meeting at 6:30 p.m.
This meeting will be highlighted by a special program at 7 p.m. titled “Stores & Stories from the Iola Herald’s Pages Recalled,” featuring stories about local people, businesses from the past, and an intriguing tale of the post office bomb scare.
During the meetings, members will review the planning status for the upcoming Taste of Norway & Lost Arts Fair, which promises to celebrate the community’s heritage with traditional Norwegian foods and crafts. Additionally, they will discuss the progress of various improvement and maintenance projects around the town.
The Iola Historical Society will also remind members of a special event on Saturday, July 27, from noon to 3 p.m. as a Tastes ‘n’ Tunes Venue.
Looking ahead, the next board and membership meetings are scheduled for Monday, Aug. 26.
