Mork to speak about Veterans Memorial Park

The Iola community is gearing up for an exciting event at the Iola Historical Society’s (IHS) Machine Shed at 222 Depot Street. The much-anticipated Strawberry Fest will take place on Sunday, June 23.

The organization’s regular monthly meeting will occur on Monday, June 24. The evening will kick off with a board meeting at 5:30 p.m., followed by the membership meeting at 6:30 p.m. During these sessions, the group will conduct a mid-year assessment of their projects and outreach efforts. Additionally, there will be a discussion regarding a potential group tour to Gausdal, Norway, scheduled for Aug. 22-24, 2025. Members interested in this tour will have the opportunity to express their interest and gather more information.

At 7 p.m., attendees will be treated to a special program featuring a presentation by Lyle Mork about the Veterans Memorial Park. Mork will share the background story and discuss the park’s ongoing development. This project is a testament to the Sheveland-Taylor American Legion Post 14’s commitment to honoring veterans and creating a meaningful community space.

The next board and membership meetings are scheduled for Monday, July 29.
