I-S Softball wins two games over Menominee Nation

The Iola-Scandinavia softball team swept a doubleheader over Menominee Nation on Monday afternoon, 15-0 and 20-3, to wrap up their CWC-East conference schedule. The Thunderbirds finished with a 5-9 conference record and improved their overall record to 11-11.

In the first game, Iola-Scandinavia scored 10 runs in the first two innings and added five more runs in the fourth inning for the final 15-0 score.

The Thunderbirds outhit the Eagles 11-3. Rayanne Clendenning and Braelyn Jueds each had three hits. Clendenning drove in two runs while Jueds drove in four runs, including a two-run double in the second inning. Ava Printz had two hits, including a run-scoring double in the first inning.

Rayanne Clendenning pitched the four innings to earn the win for the T-Birds. Clendenning allowed no walks and had five strikeouts.

Game 2

In the second game, Iola-Scandinavia scored seven runs in the first inning and went on to a 20-3 win over Menominee Nation. The game stopped after three innings due to the 15-run rule.

The Thunderbirds outhit the Eagles, 8-5, and took advantage of 17 walks. Rayanne Clendenning had three hits and three RBIs. Maya Munoz had two hits and drove in two runs.

The varsity team is scheduled to conclude their regular season with a non-conference game at Waupaca on Tuesday, May 20, weather permitting. The game will start at 4:30 p.m.

Standout Players

Junior Rayanne Clendenning had six hits, five RBI’s for both games. As the pitcher, she earned two wins, allowing one walk and had eight strikeouts for both games.

Freshman Braelyn Jueds had three hits, a double and five RBIs for both games.

Junior Ava Printz had three hits, a double and four RBIs for both games.
