CLERMONT, FL – The Iola-Scandinavia softball team beat Notre Dame Academy from Staten Island, New York, 12-3, on Thursday, April 9, during their spring training trip in Florida.  The Thunderbirds improved their record to 2-0.

The T-Birds outhit the Gators 10-4.  Brooklyn Berrens and Maya Munoz each had three hits.  Berrens had two doubles and a home run while driving in four runs.  Brylee Jueds had two hits, including a two-run triple in the fifth inning and a two-run single in the sixth inning.  Maddie Karolus had a double in the seventh inning.

Pitcher Rayanne Clendenning went the distance to earn the win. Clendenning allowed four hits, one walk, and had five strikeouts. The T-Bird defense committed one error in the game.

The junior varsity team also beat Notre Dame Academy, 9-6, following Thursday’s varsity game.

Iola-Scandinavia returns to Wisconsin and will play its first conference game at home against Weyauwega-Fremont on Monday, April 13, starting at 4:30 p.m.
