The Iola-Scandinavia varsity softball team broke open a 3-1 game by scoring six runs in the sixth inning and went on to claim a 9-2 victory at home over Wittenberg-Birnamwood on Monday, April 8, in a CWC-East game. The Thunderbirds are 1-0 in conference and 1-1 overall.

Julia Munoz and Maya Munoz each had three hits. Julia hit a solo homerun in the third inning and also drove in two runs for the game. Maya and Brylee Jueds each had a double. Jueds drove in three runs in the game. Ava Printz and Brooklyn Berrens each had two hits

Senior pitcher Julia Munoz went the distance to earn the victory. She allowed five hits, and three walks while striking out 10 batters.

The varsity team will play at Bonduel today, April 9, while the junior varsity team will play Wittenberg-Birnamwood at home today. Both games will start at 4:30 p.m.
