The Iola-Scandinavia varsity softball team behind a strong pitching performance by Julia Munoz beat Menominee Indian 10-0 in a CWC-East home game in five innings on Tuesday, April 30. Munoz allowed only three hits, two walks, and had 14 strikeouts in the shutout win. The Thunderbirds improved their conference record to 9-1 and 10-5 overall.
The T-Birds scored one run in the third inning and finally broke the 1-0 game open in the fifth inning with nine runs for the final 10-0 score. The game was stopped due to the 10-run rule.
Brooklyn Berrens had four hits including two triples in the third and fifth innings respectively. Berrens also drove in two runs. Abby Isermann and Maya Munoz each had two hits. Myah Heschke and Ava Printz each had a double with Heschke driving in two runs on her double in the fifth inning.
The junior varsity team beat Menominee Indian 7-0 on Tuesday, April 30. The JV record is 5-4 overall.
The varsity team is scheduled to play at Wittenberg-Birnamwood in a conference game on Thursday, May 2 starting at 4:30 p.m.

Senior/Parent Night
The six seniors and all the softball parents were recognized before the game on Tuesday. The six seniors include: Maci and Myah Heschke, daughters on Sarah and Jeff Heschke; Abby Isermann, daughter of Connie and Dan Isermann; Maddie Much, daughter of Stephanie and Brian Much; Julia Munoz, daughter of Sandy and Jody Munoz; and Mia Sorigue-Aregay, exchange daughter of Pam Cotton and Bill Suskey.
