Winneconne made a statement by beating Iola-Scandinavia, 17-1, in a nonconference game on Friday, April 4.  The game was stopped after three innings due to the 15-run rule after three innings.  The Thunderbirds did have several players missing due to spring break.

The loss dropped the T-Birds overall record to 1-1.

Iola-Scandinavia did take an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Winneconne responded with three runs in the first inning, six runs in the second inning and eight runs in the third inning.

Brylee Jueds had the lone hit for the Thunderbirds in the first inning. She doubled to leftfield and eventually scored on an error.

Starting junior pitcher Rayanne Clendenning pitched the three innings in taking the loss. Clendenning allowed 15 hits, three walks and no strikeouts.

The T-Bird defense did little to help by committing seven errors in the game.

The varsity team will try to bounce back when they begin conference play hosting Manawa on Tuesday, April 8, starting at 4:30 p.m.

As always, call the high school softball hotline (715-445-2411, ext. 5000) before all games to check the status of the game.
